Biographical Sketch

 

Beginnings

  • Edwrin V.B. Sutton was born and raised in Columbus County, North Carolina.

  • Attended schools in the Columbus County School System.

  • Studied biblical Studies at Amrige University in Montgomery, Alabama.

  • He served as a Church Musician and Choir Director for (15) years.

 
Spiritual Heritage

As a child, he

  • Was a member of The Welches Creek Baptist Church , Whiteville, NC where he served on the Usher Board and Junior Choir.

  • At the age of 9 was a member of The Christian Plain AME Zion Church, Clarkton, NC, where he served as the church drummer.

  • At the age of 18 joined the Warner Temple AME Zion Church, Wilmington, NC where he served as Assistant Preacher, Assistant Bible Study Teacher, Musician and Assistant Choir Director. 

  • Served the local church as musician, Sunday school teacher, and youth president.

  • Preached his trial sermon on December 4th 2005 under the leadership of Rev. George Maize IV.

Education

  • Attended Amridge University of Montgomery,Alabama in pursuit of a BA Degree in Biblical Studies.

  • Currently a student at United Theological Seminary of Dayton, Ohio in pursuit of his M.Div.

Community

  • In 2017 he became an Adjunct Professor at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York.

  • Serves on the Tubman Terrace Housing Board.

  • Serves on the SNUG Steering Committee.
  • Serves on the Suicide Prevention Task Force.
  • Principle For A Day Poughkeepsie School District.

  • Highly sought after Community Speaker.

Marriage, Family, and Pastorate

  • Raised by Rev. Dr. Valentine Sutton and Edward Sutton Sr., his parents.

  • On March 25, 2013 was joined in holy matrimony to the former Nakia Graves of Chapel Hill, NC.

  • In October, 2014 he was appointed to serve in a pastoral capacity at  Refuge Temple AME Zion Church, Montgomery, Alabama.

  • In October, 2015 he was appointed as Pastor of Wall Street AME Zion Church, Tallassee, Alabama
  • In June of 2016, he was appointed as Pastor of Smith Metropolitan AME Zion Church, Poughkeepsie, New York.

  • Each church he has pastored has at least doubled in attendance.
     

Music / Media Ministry/

  • Produced his first Album "Southern Hospitality' (2014).

  • Has sung with many notable National recording artists.

  • Charted #1 for consecutive weeks on Gospel Billboard Charts with the album Gospel Mix X

  • Has a show on the Stellar Award Nominated Xcel Radio Station that is aired every weekly entitled 'Monday Manna".

  • Has been a featured guest on Christian Television, the Word Network and Impact Network on numerous occasions.

  • He is signed to BlackSmoke Music Worldwide who are responsible for the careers of artists such as James Fortune, Earnest Pugh, Zacardi Cortez and others.

Author

  • Is the author of 100 Tips For Sinking Leaderships       (2015).

  • Is the author of Purpose Unleashed (2016).

Pastor Edwrin Sutton…

   husband, pastor, author, musician, psalmist, songwriter  and community advocate, but the name which he’d always first, rather be known as is “servant of the Lord”.
